The Eastern University, Sri Lanka, commenced External Degree programme with the following objectives.

• To provide opportunities to pursue University Education to those who are qualified and yet unable to enter the University system.

• To provide opportunities to those who are already employed and desire to obtain a degree for advancement of their career.

The External Degree programme of this University is almost similar to the Internal Degree programme. The Courses of study available are:

Faculty of Arts & Culture:

• Degree Course in Arts (B. A)  - 3 Year Course

The medium of instruction in the Faculties of Science is in English whilst at the Faculty of Commerce & Management and Faculty of Arts & Culture the Students have the option to follow the programme either in English or Tamil medium.
