Transilvania University of Brasov (UTBv) is the largest comprehensive public university in the central region of Romania, founded in 1948, with 19.300 students and 700 full-time teaching staff. UTBv is offering a diversity of study programs (100+ bachelor programmes, 70+ master programmes, 18 PhD programmes) covering 43 domains of science in the major fields of engineering, social sciences, humanities, arts, medicine, mathematics and sports. Research at Transilvania University of Brasov is supported by the state-of-the-art infrastructure of the R&D Institute, one of the largest research platforms in South-Eastern Europe. Researchers, teaching staff and students work together in 30 research centres and interdisciplinary teams, with results which have placed UTBv among the most prestigious and competitive Romanian universities. UTBv promotes internationalization (at home and abroad), having strong international links with centres of excellence throughout Europe and overseas for education and research.
UTBv has a strong focus on inclusive education and relevant expertise in teaching and research related to services for students with special needs. Three bachelor programmes are focused on public policy, social interventions programs and support for youth with various special needs: Social Work bachelor programme (within the Faculty of Sociology and Communication), Special Psychopedagogy bachelor programme (within the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences) and Kinetic Therapy and Special Motricity bachelor programme (within the Faculty of Physical Education and Mountain Sports). According to its expertise, UTBv will participate with a interdisciplinary team consisting in three sociologists, one psychologist and one expert in psychomotricity. Furthermore, UTBv has expertise in Quality Assurance field, being rated as one of the most competitive Romanian universities in this area. All team members are responsible for quality assurance at faculty level or have responsibilities related to quality assurance.
