Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG | 2023) on 8th July to 8th September
Inter-University sports championships have been organized since the 1950s. The first Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) was held in 1980 at the University of Peradeniya. The goal of SLUG is to place sports and physical education at the service of the harmonious development of Sri Lankan universities, with a view to promoting a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity. It covers 16 state universities of Sri Lanka comes under the purview of the University Grants Commission. Over 6,000 players will participate in 24 games including 40 events for men and women.
The SLUG is a highly anticipated event held every three years in rotation among Sri Lankan State Universities, bringing together athletes from all over the country. Hosting this event is a unique opportunity for our university and the entire Island to promote sports development and a peaceful society. The Eastern University, Sri Lanka takes pride in hosting the distinguished 14th Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG).
