Eastern University Student participated the JENESYS FY2017 programme in Japan
Miss. Jeyaranjan Prasheenaa from the Faculty of Commerce and Management participated the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme which was held in Japan from 27th November to 05th December, 2017. She was a member of the 16 member delegation from Sri Lanka which consists of 04 high school students and 11 University undergraduates.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan promotes people-to-people exchange between Japan and the various nations of the Asia-pacific, North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean regions. The Asian and Oceania regional component of this exchange program is called ‘JENESYS’. Approximately 240 youths who are expected to play an active and important role in the various fields in the future participated in this programme.
The objectives of this programme are:
- To promote participants’ capacity building in a manner that would be conductive to the development of the SAARC member countries.
- To promote mutual trust and understanding among the people of Japan and participating countries, and regions, to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation.
- To promote a global understating of Japan’s society, history, diverse culture, politics, economics and diplomatic relations.
- To present a trust and accurate image of japan by disseminating information on Japan through participants.
