Who we are?
General Service Division is one of the two Divisions of the General Administration Department, which is headed by a Senior Assistant Registrar. The Objective of the Division is to provide all services required by the University to offer academic programmes to students and a convenient working environment for staff to carry out their functions.
There are several units functioning under the General Services Division, viz, Security Unit, Maintenance Unit, Landscape Unit, Health Centre and Physical Educations Unit which are headed by Chief Security Officer, Works Engineer, Curator, University Medical Officer and Director respectively.
OFFICE LAYOUT
While the General Service Division is located in the ground floor of the Senate building of the University other Units and Centers are located in various places. For instance, the Maintenance Unit is located in the old Department of Mathematics (nearby Main Hall), and the Security Unit is located at the old entrance to the Senate Building. The Health Centre and Physical Education Unit is located on the premises across the road opposite the Senate Building. The landscape Unit is presently functioning under the Maintenance Unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GENERAL SERVICES DIVISION
❖ Handling all matters pertaining to maintenance and allocation of university vehicles and arranging transport facilities for staff when required.
❖ Handling all matters with regard to contractual services: security, janitorial, landscape and photocopying etc. through respective Units set up for such activities.
❖ Handling all matters pertaining to maintenance of fixed assets such as furniture, equipment, tools and machinery etc.
❖ Handling all payments with regard to rents, rentals and revenue taxes etc
❖ Coordinating the work in Connection with Board/s of Survey.
❖ Handling all matters with regards to providing canteen facilities and maintenance of canteens for students and staff.
❖ Handling the matters pertaining to Health Centre and Physicals Education Unit.
