Chancellor
The Chancellor of a university in Sri Lanka is the ceremonial and titular head of the university. The Chancellor's duties include:
- Presiding over the university's convocation
- Holding office for a period of five years
The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka nominates the Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor is the Principal Executive Officer, Principal Academic Officer, and Chief Accounting Officer of the university. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the day-to-day management of the university. The President of Sri Lanka appoints the Vice-Chancellor for a period of three years.
