On 24 January 2025, the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Eastern University Sri Lanka organized a stakeholder meeting in the Senate Board Room to discuss the proposed Master of Education Management program. The meeting aimed to gather valuable insights and recommendations from stakeholders to ensure the program’s relevance and effectiveness. The session commenced with an opening address by Prof. J. Kennedy, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Following this, Prof. F.B. Kennedy, Chairperson of the Board of Study, Commerce, and Management, presented a detailed proposal outlining the program’s objectives, structure, and potential impact. The proposal highlighted the need for a specialized curriculum that equips graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle the complexities of modern educational systems.

After the presentation, stakeholders were invited to participate in an open discussion, which proved to be highly productive. Attendees, including academic experts and representatives from educational institutions, shared their perspectives on various aspects of the program. Key discussion points included the eligibility criteria for potential students and the medium of study with recommendations to offer the program in both English and Tamil to cater to a diverse student population. Stakeholders also provided input on the curriculum design, proposing subjects such as Career Guidance, Research Methodology, Action Research, Audit & Discipline, Innovation in Education, and Mental Well-being.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. L. Delima, the person in charge of the Master of Education Management. She expressed gratitude to all participants for their feedback and suggestions. The stakeholder meeting marked a significant step forward in the development of the Master of Education Management program, reflecting the Faculty of Graduate Studies’ commitment to creating a program that meets the needs of both students and the broader educational community.
