Programme Title : Awareness session on Safe and Regular Migration Pathways for University Students.

The Safe Migration Awareness Session was conducted for a target group of undergraduate students with the aim of enhancing their knowledge and awareness of safe and regular migration pathways, the dangers of irregular migration, and the risks associated with human smuggling and trafficking. The session sought to strengthen students’ understanding of safe migration practices. It commenced with a brief presentation introducing the International Organization for Migration (IOM). A pre-evaluation was carried out to assess participants’ existing knowledge on safe and regular migration. During the session, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials on safe migration were distributed among the participants. The session was highly interactive, with students demonstrating keen interest and active engagement throughout. It contributed significantly to raising awareness and promoting safe and regular migration practices, both in the context of pursuing higher education overseas and for other migration purposes at the community level, either currently or in the near future. The session concluded with a post-evaluation and feedback from two participating students. The Safe Migration Student Awareness Session was successfully organized through the Career Guidance (CG) Unit of Eastern University. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Career Guidance (CG) Unit of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, on behalf of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for their valuable support and effective coordination in organizing this awareness session for the selected undergraduate students.

Programme Title: Session on Enhancing Communication Skills in English.

I have run a 3-hour workshop about enhancing communication skills through confidence-building speaking activities. By promoting student-to-student and student-to-class interactions, students overcame their diffidence to share facts, ideas, and opinions. Moreover, I covered tips on how to excel in job interviews, followed by an opportunity for students to practice with their peers and me.

"I have conducted one day workshop on “Quantitative and Qualitative methods of data collection in Baseline Survey” for 16 students of Eastern University, Sri Lanka which funded by MJF CF Dignified and Sustainable Empowerment East Project, at Career Guidance unit, Eastern University, Sri Lanka.  Thereafter, the trained students were engaged in the field level data collection with me for five days in five DS divisions in the Batticaloa district. Students were actively engaged in both workshop and field survey. Students’ commitment and hard work have not gone unnoticed. I would like to congratulate students and extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation for their dedication and enthusiasm. Further, I extend my thanks to the Career Guidance Unit of Eastern University, Sri Lanka to select the suitable students and organized this workshop on order to complete the baseline survey successfully.."

"Students were so active and enthusiastic in learning new things via the workshops. Since the workshops in Tamil, FAC students understood more clearly. Happy to see their active listening . Relevant practical tips, examples and video clips with interactive session were highly appreciated by most of the students. They requested for more such good interactive energised workshops more to them and other students frequently. I appreciate CGU EUSL’s constructive support for these workshops. If such workshops duration at least 6 hours, it will be good to have group activities. Look forward to contributing more punctual enthusiastic students in many workshops in the near future."
