Welcome to the Centre for Social Reconciliation (CSR) The Centre for Social Reconciliation (CSR) at Eastern University, Sri Lanka (EUSL), is established as a proactive response to the national need for social reconciliation and harmony within the university community and the wider society. Sri Lanka’s post-conflict context necessitates that higher education institutions play a transformative role in fostering a "Sri Lankan spirit" that transcends parochial identities. EUSL is uniquely positioned within a multicultural and multi-religious setting to advance national reconciliation process through intellectual and cultural engagement.
The CSR serves as a platform to:
- Promote a shared national identity where "Sri Lankans live in unity in diversity".
- Encourage critical dialogue to remove ingrained prejudices, suspicions, and mistrust.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary research and the dissemination of knowledge in all three national languages.
- Build bridges between the university and wider communities
- Strengthen youth leadership by empowering students as architects of a peaceful future.
