Quality Assurance Cells
Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs) were established within the Faculties of Eastern University, Sri Lanka (EUSL) in accordance with the Quality Monitoring and Enhancement Unit (QMEU) policy of the University. Subsequently, following University Grants Commission Sri Lanka Circular No. 09/2019, these units were renamed as Faculty Quality Assurance Cells (FQACs).
FQACs have been established in the following faculties of the University:
- Faculty of Agriculture
- Faculty of Arts & Culture
- Faculty of Commerce & Management
- Faculty of Health-Care Sciences
- Faculty of Science
- Faculty of Technology
- Faculty of Graduate Studies
In addition, FQACs operate in the following faculties of the Trincomalee Campus:
- Faculty of Applied Science
- Faculty of Communication & Business Studies
- Faculty of Siddha Medicine
To further strengthen quality assurance activities at the Trincomalee Campus, a Quality Assurance Unit was established in 2025. This unit functions under the guidance of the Rector of the Trincomalee Campus and the Director of the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA).
In addition to faculty-based quality assurance cells, IQACs have also been established in the following entities:
- Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies (SVIAS)
- Centre for External Degrees and Extension Courses (CEDEC)
- Library (Library Quality Assurance Cell – LQAC)
- Administrative Division
Furthermore, the CQA has introduced quality assurance mechanisms for the Staff Development Centre and the Career Guidance Unit by incorporating a permanent agenda item on quality assurance in their respective Management Committee meetings.
Each FQAC and IQAC is headed by a Coordinator, who serves as the officer-in-charge of the respective cell. A Coordinating Committee, chaired by the Head of the respective faculty or unit, provides guidance for the functioning of these cells. The CQA regularly convenes meetings with the coordinators to monitor progress and ensure the effective implementation of quality assurance activities across the University.
