Annual Progress Review of QA Cells – Eastern University, Sri Lanka
The first Annual Progress Review of the Quality Assurance (QA) Cells of Eastern University, Sri Lanka was successfully conducted on 12th January 2026 at the Seminar Hall of the Staff Development Centre (SDC), organized by the Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA).
The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Rector of the Trincomalee Campus, Director of SVIAS, Deans of the Faculties, the University Librarian, Director/CEDEC, and Coordinators of the Quality Assurance Cells representing the Faculties, CEDEC, and the Library.
The Director of CQA, Prof. P. Elango, delivered the welcome address, while the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. Peratheepan, delivered the opening remarks. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of fostering and sustaining a strong quality culture within the University to ensure excellence in teaching, learning, and institutional governance.
The primary objective of the Annual Progress Review was to provide an opportunity for each Quality Assurance Cell to present its activities and the implementation of best practices to the University authorities. The review also served as a platform to share experiences and promote continuous improvement across academic and support units.
This inaugural Annual Progress Review marked an important milestone in the University’s efforts to institutionalize quality assurance practices and to enhance accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across all units.
