President’s Awards for Scientific Research 2020 (for publications in 2018)
The most prestigious research award ceremony in Sri Lanka, the “President’s Awards for Scientific Research” was held on 6 th April 2021 at the Auditorium of Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. Awards were given for the best 100 papers published in prestigious journals in the year 2018 where a significant contribution had been made by scientists working in Sri Lanka. The ceremony was held as an online event due to the pandemic situation.

Library Network Of The Eastern University, Sri Lanka Grabs All Best Paper Awards
The National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS), University of Colombo in collaboration with the South Asia Chapter of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) organized a virtual research symposium recently and all awards prescribed for the symposium were awarded to two professionals attached to the Library Network of the Eastern University, Sri Lanka.

President’s Awards for Scientific Research
The most prestigious research award ceremony in Sri Lanka, the “President’s Awards for Scientific Research” was held on 26th August 2019 at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo. Awards were given for the best 100 papers published in prestigious journals in the year 2017 where a significant contribution had been made by scientists working in Sri Lanka.
Two research articles with Eastern University affiliations was among the 100 articles won the prestigious research awards:
President’s Award for Scientific Publication - 2016, held on 19th November 2018
Two scientists from Faculty of Science, Professor S. Thirukkanesh, Department of Mathematics and Professor F. C. Ragel, Department of Physics received Presidential Awards for their outstanding scientific research published in prestigious international journal in the year 2016. The award ceremony was held on 19th November 2018 at Taj Samudra, Colombo presided by HE Maithripala Sirisena. Professor Thirukkanesh has previously won the award four times (2008, 2009, 2014 & 2015) and Professor Ragel has won the award twice previously (2008 & 2014).
SUSRED Award 2017
Dr M. Koneswaran from Department of Chemistry, EUSL received the SUSRED 2017 Award (Support Scheme for Supervision of Research Degrees) for supervising the PhD student leading to completion of the degree within a stipulated time.
Dr Koneswaran received the award from Honorable Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training and Kandyan Heritage Dr Sarath Amunugama at the awarding ceremony held on 25th July 2018 at BMICH, Colombo.

Four academics from Faculty of Science, Eastern University received President’s Awards for Scientific Publication at a ceremony held on 6th November 2017 at Taj Samudra, Colombo. The awarding scheme was started in 2001 to recognise Sri Lankan scientists whose research reached international standards, and to provide an incentive to increase national scientific productivity. This year, 294 Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan Institutional affiliation received awards for their research papers published in 2015 in journals listed in the Science Citation Index (SCI).

Four academics from Faculty of Science, Eastern University received President’s Awards for Scientific Publication at a ceremony held on 22nd November 2016 at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The awarding scheme was started in 2001 to recognize Sri Lankan scientists whose research reached international standards, and to provide an incentive to increase national scientific productivity. This year, 232 Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan Institutional affiliation received awards for their research papers published in 2014 in journals listed in the Science Citation Index (SCI).
