NOTICE

Scheme for payment of allowance for low-income students with disabilities - studying in Eastern University, Sri Lanka.

In accordance with Commission Circular No.05/2026 dated 04.03.2026, low-income students with disabilities (all faculties & all batches) are eligible for this scholarship.

Accordingly, eligible students are requested to submit the duly filled application for the above scholarship on or before 22.05.2026 to the Senior Assistant Registrar, Student Affairs Department, Eastern University, Sri Lanka.

(Mahapola or Bursary eligible students can also apply for this scholarship.)

The application form can be downloaded from the esn.ac.lk website.

Eligible students will be informed after completion of the entire process.

Re-Calling Nominations
For the Position of Vice President
To the University Students’ Union
Academic Year 2023/2024

In accordance with the University Act No. 16 of 1978 and as amended by Universities Amendment Act No. 26 of 1988 and the Students’ Union By-law No. 14 of 2015 by the Council of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, I hereby announce that the Election for the office bearer position of Vice President to the University Students’ Union will be held on Friday, 08.05.2026 between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm in the Office of the Registrar.

Nominations for the Office Bearer position of Vice President will be received between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm on Thursday, 07.05.2026 at the Office of the Registrar, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, Vantharumoolai, Chenkalady.

As per the provisions under Clause 10 of the Guidelines to Combat Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions:

Every HEI shall ensure that Student Unions and any other organized student groups within the institution do not initiate or promote ragging.

• Ensuring gender parity and ethnic balance in elections.
• Allowing individual candidates to contest for each post instead of group-based nominations.

Nomination should be made on prescribed forms issued by the Office of the Senior Assistant Registrar / Student Affairs Department, Eastern University, Sri Lanka.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.esn.ac.lk from Thursday, 30.04.2026 onwards.

The electorate for the University Students’ Union election will be the Office Bearers and Committee Members of the Faculty Students’ Union in accordance with Section 112 of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 (as amended).

Note:

No eligible nominations were received during the initial nomination period from 30.01.2026 to 11.02.2026.

Nominations were re-invited from 19.02.2026 to 26.02.2026 and 09.03.2026 to 13.03.2026, but no applications were received.

Accordingly, this is the Final Notice calling for nominations. If no eligible nominations are received, the University Students’ Union for the Academic Year 2023/2024 will be declared based on previously received eligible nominees, without further delay.
