Site Visit of Institutional Review (IR) 2023
Institutional Review – 2023 was conducted by the University Grants Commission to the Eastern University, Sri Lanka. The site visit was conducted from 08th to 12th May, 2023 at the Eastern University, Sri Lanka.
The Institutional review focuses on the powers and responsibilities which universities hold for quality and standards. It is concerned with how a University assures itself and the wider public that the quality and standards it sets for itself are being achieved. Institutional review is concerned with university-wide processes that support sound quality management and university planning to maintain an appropriate environment for teaching-learning, research, outreach, and other associated activities (Institutional Review Manual, 2023).

The review team conducted meetings with the Vice Chancellor, Council Members, Dean of the Faculties, Head of the Departments, Director of the Units and Centres, Coordinators of Units, Academic Staff, Administrative Staff, Academic Supportive Staff, Non-Academic Staff, and the Student Representatives.
Further, the review team visited and observed all the faculties and the facilities in the University including the Library, Hostels, Centres/Units, Lecture halls, Computer Labs, Health Centre, Sport facilities and Canteens.
Document verifications also conducted by the Review Team and the members of the SER Team assisted the reviewers to inspect the documents.
The Centre for Quality Assurance coordinated all these activities and facilitated the logistic arrangements.
