Message from the Vice-Chancellor
The Eastern University, Sri Lanka (EUSL) has over a 44 year-history of striving towards academic excellence and a continuous commitment to research and innovation. With its diverse and vibrant community of students, it is well-positioned to drive forward towards holistic development of higher education harmoniously among multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student community. In order to realize this vision, we collectively need to embrace changes and constantly strive for improvement by accommodating innovative thrives and perspectives. As we embark on this developmental progress, I am fully committed to lead EUSL by respecting and accommodating the core values and constituents, and by recognizing diversity and promoting shared governance, thereby inspiring everyone to rally in support of constructive initiatives and foster inclusiveness. My vision for EUSL is to lead the university to become a world-class university by excelling in internationally recognized values, norms and parameters in building a university to higher level, and thereby significantly improving the world university ranking of our university. As due to the rapid exponential growth in fourth generation technologies, especially in the field of artificial intelligence and smart robotics, human’s abilities are competingly challenged by machines. In this context, one great opportunity we have in our disposure to face the above challenges is the progressive digital transformation towards hybridized teaching, combining traditional and virtual spaces into the education processes of creating digital cooperative learning environment with emerging technological advancements.
Our university is a hub of academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement. We are committed to providing a sportive and inclusive environment that fosters growth, creativity, and critical thinking. In this regards, I am dedicated to foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect, where everyone is encouraged to work cooperatively with deep commitment towards promoting greater synergy and cohesiveness to achieve our common objective. I am nurturing a culture of accountability with highest standards of conduct, performance, and integrity, promoting a culture of respect and dignity, where each stakeholder is treated with fairness and respect. Moreover, I will motivate everyone ethically in all spheres of administration to strive willingly and enthusiastically to achieve the institutional goals. I call everyone to join us on this journey, as we strive for excellence in teaching, research, and service.
